District appoints new chief

Arun DC has appointed Dawn Hudd as its new chief executive.
Ms Hudd will replace director of growth Karl Roberts and director of environment and communities Phillipa Dart, who have acted as interim chiefs since May 2023 after the departure of James Hassett. Mr Hassett left to become chief executive of Solent Freeport last year.
She will join the council later this year from Guildford and Waverley BCs where she is currently strategic director for place.
Prior to joining Guildford and Waverly she served as the head of regeneration at Maidstone BC between 2013 and 2018 and also previously worked for Canterbury City Council.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Hudd said: "I am delighted to be joining Arun DC as its CEO and am really excited by the opportunity to bring my experience and skills to helping Arun achieve its full potential. I look forward to getting to know the councillors and staff and to meeting with stakeholders, residents and partners to fully understand the challenges and opportunities for the district."
Matt Stanley (Lib Dem) leader of Arun said he looked forward to working with Miss Judd and also thanked Mr Roberts and Ms Dart for their work as interim chiefs.
